10 Spring Break Activities = Fun & Affordable
- Head out into the community! The snow is melting and the Meadowlarks are singing. It's time to start using the Community Pathways ~ most have been cleared of snow and gravel. Enjoy a brisk family bike ride or walk.
- Get crafty! Pull out the paint, glitter, stickers, construction paper, scissors and create a masterpiece.
- Catch a flick. Kid friendly shows now playing in Jackson include: "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", "Rango", & "Hop".
- Plant veggie seeds for your garden!
- Have a gaming party! Invite your friends over for a tournament of video games. Divide group into teams and make sure to have prizes for all (homemade medals & trophies work well).
- Sleep over! Bring down the house with a PJ party! No matter what age, you can't resist popcorn, DVDs, board games, and pillow fights.
- Road trip to Kelly, WY! Take a drive around Gros Ventre Loop! Look for bears, bison, elk, birds of prey, and moose along the river - I saw one today! Bring a snack to share while you stop to look for minnows in Kelly Warm Springs!
- Indoor picnic! Yes, the ground is soggy outside, so have a picnic inside. Cut fruit and veggies into fun shapes and make bite size sandwiches with cookie cutters.
- Read newspaper comics aloud. This is a great way to learn social skills. Explain why jokes are funny, introduce the timing of punch lines and then try to create an original comic strip.
- Hula Hoop! Yes, hula hooping is both fun and energizing as a form of exercise. A quick tip: before picking up hoop...leave feet firmly planted shoulder width apart and circle your pelvis (yes, just like Elvis!): Right, back, left, forward. You can also swivel your hips the other way. Do this a few times until you get the feel of it. Add hoop & spin with hands to left or right, whichever way your hips are moving! Enjoy!! P.S. You can make hoops with PVC piping and colorful tape.
